From the 2019-20 season, temporary dismissals also known as 'sin bins' will be introduced across all levels of grassroots football. Players dissent will result in temporary dismissals from the pitch.
What is meant by 'Temporary Dismissal" ?
This is when a player is dismissed from the pitch, but is allowed back on after a set period of time, so it's not a permanent dismissal.
What exactly is a "Sin Bin"?
There isn't actually a 'bin', it's just a phrase used to describe a situation where a player has committed an offence and is spending time off the pitch.
How long is the period in the Sin Bin?
The period in the Sin Bin is 10 Minutes for all matches of 90 minutes and 8 Minutes for all other matches.
What is Dissent?
Dissent can fall into two categories, either via word or action in the opinion of the referee.
Dissent is a behavioural matter rather than a football matter. By reducing dissent, we hope to improve the retention of referees while improving the image of the game.
